Swiss Mercenaries WIP

this is just a sample of what is turning into a rather ambitious project, with halberds, crossbows, and handgunners also in the mix in there somewhere..

right now i'm up to my neck in perry plastic figures, and i'm loving it!

this is actually from a few weeks back, now there are are more pikes, a few touch ups here and there..

i'm not committing them to any bases until i figure out what i'm going to do with them..
i am not a war-gamer by nature, just a lover of figure painting.

perhaps a diorama is in order?

too bad there aren't any plastic boxes of Landsknecht multipose figures floating around out there...

anyway,
this is just a small sample of what is turning into a pretty impressive army.

enjoy!

More Empire Figures!

hello again!  sorry for the long delay.  life has a way of stepping in the way and causing distraction

this time around some more Empire figures from Games Workshop.

these guys were all painted at various times over the last 10 years,  a few done just a few months ago.

the champion is one of those painted recently.

these two here leftover guys that ended up being hammerers.

finally got some of those perry mercenaries!  my Swiss Confederation Army is slowly coming together!

pics by Sunday I swear!

Enjoy!

Warhammer Empire Figures

hello again!  today's entry will be a few Warhammer figures: archers and militia men from the Empire Free Company box.  these were painted with a bit of haste, mainly being used as practice subjects, seeing as i haven't painted any 28mm figures in years.  it is a real different approach that painting 1/35th scale/ 54mm!

i'm still trying to find a better way to display and photograph all my figures.  so bear with me!

honestly, after seeing the newer ranges of historical figures in the "truescale" 28mm, these guys just look bulky and cartoonish.  when i left the world of tabletop miniatures for larger figures years ago, these were some of the best and most affordable historical/fantasy figures out there.  but now they just seem a little...  sophomoric.  still, they were pretty fun to paint, and now i've gotten my brain reset to the smaller scale.
now i just need some of those Perry Miniatures War of the Roses plastic figures to REALLY put the skills to the test!

North Africa Diorama

hello again!

today's subject is a North Africa Diorama i put together about a year ago. it depicts a tired and injured Afrika Korps soldier being captured by British 8th Army in Tunisia 1943.  the Grant Tank is an old Tamiya Kit, the AK troop is from Tristar, and the Two Tommies are both from Dragon.  all built pretty much out of the box. Enjoy!

here are a few images of the Grant before it was put in place..

once again.. i apologize that my photos are not of better quality.  this is all a learning process for me!

thanks and enjoy!

Soviet Tank Riders

Some pics of a T-34/85 and some tank riders.  These figures and the tank were painted 10 years ago, but after a slight overhaul of them all they finally made it on a base.  enjoy!

Forgive my not so good pictures.  this was all i have at the moment.  i really just wanted to add something on day one!  I'm sure i will get the hang of it eventually!

Mission Statement

Greetings!  This is the first post of my figure painting blog.  I have been looking for a way to document my painting over the years and this seems like the best way!  hope you enjoy!
